On Taste
Everyone has preferences. Not everyone has taste.
Taste is editorial. It's the willingness to leave things out. To say no to something good because it doesn't serve the whole.
In a DJ set, this means not playing the obvious banger when the room needs subtlety. In design, it means whitespace over decoration. In life, it means knowing what to say no to.
The paradox
The more you develop taste, the simpler things look from the outside. People think you're doing less. But the restraint is the work.
Influences
I think about Virgil Abloh's 3% rule — change something by just 3% and it becomes new. That's taste. It's not revolution, it's curation.
